His Holiness & Richard Gere: A Conversation

This month our screening is a short film from The International Campaign for Tibet of a conversation between His Holiness the Dalai Lama and our Board Chairman Richard Gere on June 14, 2016, in an intimate gathering of a select level of our members. In the course of the conversation, he shared thoughts on the importance of Tibetan culture and its contributions to humanity, articulating reasons for preserving this vital culture. He shared personal anecdotes from his own experiences of growing up in Tibet, and the hardships faced coming into exile, in addition to discussing the challenges of the Tibet issue. This CD includes the full length footage of this conversation.

The International Campaign for Tibet works to promote human rights and democratic freedoms for the people of Tibet and helps build awareness about Tibet during this crucial period in its history. Founded in 1988, ICT is a nonprofit membership organization with offices in Washington, D.C.; Amsterdam; Berlin; and Brussels; and a partnership with the Australia Tibet Council. Blue Mountain Dharma continues its educational film series, screening at 7 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, February 17th. (The doors open at 6:30 p.m.) The event is free, and it will be held at the Gryphon (213 West Main St., Charlottesville above Mudhouse Coffee on the historic Downtown Mall). All with an interest in Tibetan culture and Buddhism are welcome to attend. The film will be followed by a lively seminar-style discussion.
