Tracing Vairochana’s Footsteps in Tibet is a documentary and pilgrimage project featuring the young reincarnate master Vairochana Rinpoche that retraces the historic and spiritual legacy of the great 8th-century Tibetan translator Vairotsana

The Historical Figure: Vairotsana was one of the first seven monks ordained in Tibet, a primary disciple of Padmasambhava, and a pivotal master who brought early Dzogchen teachings from India to Tibet. He was an 8th-century Tibetan master born in Pagor who was recognized for his intellect by Guru Padmasambhava and King Trisong Detsen. After traveling to India to receive Dzogchen teachings, he faced betrayal and was exiled to Gyalrong, where he established lasting Buddhist lineages before his eventual return to Central Tibet.

The Documentary Series: Captured across multiple parts by Tenzinography, the project visually and spiritually documents sacred sites, caves, and historical transition points tied to Vairochana's monumental life, exile, and teachings.

Blue Mountain Dharma continues its educational film series, screening at 7 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, Septemberth. (The doors open at 6:30 p.m.) The event is free, and it will be held at the Gryphon (213 West Main St., Charlottesville above Mudhouse Coffee on the historic Downtown Mall). All with an interest in Tibetan culture and Buddhism are welcome to attend. The film will be followed by a lively seminar-style discussion. 

The Blue Mountain Dharma Film Series (BMD Film Series) is a monthly educational seminar on Tibetan Buddhism. Meeting on the 3rd Tuesday of each month to view and discuss films illustrating Tibetan Buddhist practice. The seminar created by Barbara Heritage, features documentaries and biographical films focusing on the lives of notable Tibetan lineage.
